We’re seeking a BC/BE Pediatric Neurogastroenterologist for an exciting opportunity to develop a Pediatric Neurogastroenterology and Motility program at Ochsner Hospital for Children in New Orleans, Louisiana. The successful candidate will be an integral part of a comprehensive pediatric digestive care program within Ochsner’s Health’s regional health system, the largest not-for-profit academic health system in the Gulf South.

The Section of Pediatric GI, Hepatology & Nutrition, currently 10 physicians and 1 NP, offers pediatric advanced endoscopy and ERCP, pancreatology, hepatology and liver transplantation, intestinal rehabilitation, and comprehensive programs in aerodigestive disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, pediatric feeding & swallowing disorders, and colorectal malformations.

Key responsibilities of this position include:

Leadership and Program Development

  • Collaborate with leadership to develop and lead a regional Pediatric Neurogastroenterology and Motility program.

Clinical Care

  • Provide inpatient and outpatient care for children with pediatric digestive disorders, focusing on those with dysmotility and disturbances of gut-brain interaction.
  • Perform gastrointestinal endoscopy and motility procedures.
  • Partner with medical and surgical colleagues to serve children with complex conditions in multidisciplinary programs.

Teaching and Research

  • Teach medical students, residents, and allied health students.
  • Clinical and translational research opportunities abound for qualified candidates.
  • Academic appointment commensurate with experience.

The Department of Pediatrics and its pediatric subspecialists (collectively, Ochsner for Children™) represent over 110 physicians.  The group is the region’s leading integrated provider of multispecialty care for infants, children, adolescents, and young adults. Offering a full range of pediatric services including bone marrow transplantation, solid organ transplantation, and pediatric cardiovascular surgery, Ochsner Hospital for Children utilizes a 54-bed Level III-C Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a 14-bed PICU, a 35-bed pediatric unit, as well as a dedicated, full-time, region-wide in-house pediatric transport team.
