Description

We’re seeking a Section Head of Pediatric Urology along with junior faculty to join the Ochsner Department of Urology and Ochsner Children’s Hospital in New Orleans, the #1 ranked children’s hospital in Louisiana by U.S. News & World Report. Ochsner Children’s Hospital is excited to announce their expansion with the building of a new separate, comprehensive and dedicated children's hospital on the Ochsner main campus, expected to open in 2027.

The Section Head will lead the current team of three pediatric urologists and an APP who are part of a high-functioning, rapidly growing tertiary/quaternary Pediatrics Program and Children’s Hospital. You will join the Ochsner Department of Urology, which includes 29 adult urologists and 10 APPs across the system. The ideal candidate will possess experience collaborating with clinicians and organizational leaders and enjoy mentoring and fostering the recruitment and development of pediatric urology faculty.

Ochsner offers state-of-the-art operating theaters, including four daVinci robotic suites as well as a newly opened pediatric surgery OR and ASC. The department also has a growing multidisciplinary myelodysplasia clinic, which meets monthly, and includes a general pediatrician, pediatric urology, pediatric orthopedics, pediatric neurosurgery, and social work support.

The team currently cares for patients in an expanding 54-bed Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a 14-bed PICU, a 12-bed pediatric CV-ICU, and a 44-bed pediatric acute unit, with a dedicated pediatric emergency room, and full-time, region-wide, in-house pediatric and neonatal transport teams.

In addition to patient care, faculty are involved in teaching residents in the Ochsner Urology residency program as well as medical students from the University of Queensland. Ochsner Health and Xavier University of Louisiana also recently announced an agreement to establish a joint College of Medicine.
