Description
We’re seeking a Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Pediatric Surgeon to join Nemours Children’s Hospital, Florida working with two other pediatric surgeons at a partner hospital, Lakeland Regional Health, in Lakeland, Florida – located 35 miles from Tampa and less than 60 miles from downtown Orlando and the Orlando International Airport.
One of the largest hospitals in Florida with 892 beds and an award-winning workplace that is also ranked by U.S. News & World Report as high performing in seven adult specialties in 2024-25, Lakeland Regional Health is a comprehensive tertiary referral hospital operating a Level II Trauma Center, a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and the nation’s busiest single-site Emergency Department. Nemours services at Lakeland Regional Health include Nemours Children’s Health Inpatient services: Cardiology and MFM Consults, PICU and General Surgery Medical Directorship services, and Neurology. Outpatient services provided by Nemours Children’s Health include Pediatric Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Nephrology, Rheumatology, Urology, and Maternal Fetal Medicine.
In 2018, Lakeland Regional Health opened the Carol Jenkins Barnett Pavilion for Women and Children, a $275 million dollar project with 300,000 square feet of state-of-the-art inpatient and outpatient space. The Pavilion offers 17 private suites for labor, delivery, recovery and high-risk antepartum care, 4 C-section surgery suites, and Polk County’s only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, with 30 private NICU rooms. The 30-bed Pediatric floor includes a 12-bed high-acuity Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, featuring space for family members who need to stay overnight. The Pediatric Surgery Department has 3 pediatric surgery suites, a 10-bed post-anesthesia care unit and a 17-bed pre/post operative unit. There are two additional 32-bed patient care units for antepartum, mother/baby, women’s surgery and medical/surgical patient needs.
This position will receive backup from the four Pediatric Surgeons based at Nemours Children’s Hospital, Florida, just 52 miles away. Call will be 1:3 with opportunities to participate in research and in the Pediatric Residency program.
