Pediatric Cardiology — Two Distinct Practice Opportunities | Academic Heart Center | Outstanding Quality of Life

Pediatric Search Partners is engaged to conduct a national search for two experienced General Pediatric Cardiologists to join the Division of Pediatric Cardiology at Baylor College of Medicine at CHRISTUS Children’s. CHRISTUS Children’s is the first and only freestanding, academic, not-for-profit children’s hospital in San Antonio, Texas.

Located in the nation’s seventh-largest city and the second-largest city in Texas, San Antonio and the surrounding region have a rapidly growing pediatric population expected to expand significantly over the next 20 years, creating meaningful need for pediatric services and long-term professional opportunity.

Due to continued growth and patient volume, the division is seeking to expand access to pediatric cardiology at two important community locations while remaining connected to the academic, clinical and multidisciplinary resources of CHRISTUS Children’s Heart Center.

San Antonio: This position will be based at CHRISTUS Children’s at Alon Town Center, approximately 11 miles northwest of the downtown children’s hospital, with the potential to also see patients at the CHRISTUS Children's Multispecialty Center at The Shoppes at La Cantera, about 16 miles from main campus.

New Braunfels: Conveniently located in the growing corridor between Austin and San Antonio and just 33 miles northeast of CHRISTUS Children’s, this new pediatric cardiology outreach location offers the opportunity to establish a meaningful presence in one of Texas’ fastest-growing family communities, build strong referral relationships, and develop a long-term practice in the market.

These positions are employed by Baylor College of Medicine and include an academic appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor level, commensurate with experience and qualifications, with opportunities for multidisciplinary collaboration, case conferences, quality improvement, teaching students and residents, scholarly activity, and clinical research based on individual interests.

In addition, the Max and Minnie Tomerlin Voelcker Clinical Research Center – with 200+ active research studies (supported by $5.3 million in state, federal and foundation grants) – is available for those pursuing or continuing clinical research.

About the Heart Center at CHRISTUS Children’s

The Heart Center at CHRISTUS Children’s provides comprehensive care for congenital and acquired heart disease through a highly collaborative multidisciplinary model bringing together pediatric cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, cardiac anesthesia, perfusion, critical care, and specialized nursing teams. Cardiac specialists are available around the clock to support children with both routine and highly complex cardiovascular needs while delivering thoughtful, family-centered care.

• Dedicated cardiac surgery operating room with a specialized surgical team
• Pediatric cardiac catheterization laboratory
• Dedicated neonatal and pediatric transport teams available 24/7
• Specialized cardiac teams within the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
• Advanced cardiac imaging, including cardiac MRI, stress MRI, and cardiac CT
• Comprehensive fetal cardiology, electrophysiology, echocardiography, and exercise testing capabilities
