Valley Children’s Healthcare is seeking Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Maternal-Fetal Medicine physicians to join the well-established and growing Maternal-Fetal Center in the heart of California.

With a broad spectrum of board-certified physicians and subspecialists, Valley Children’s Maternal-Fetal and Newborn Medicine Program brings the experts of maternal-fetal medicine and newborn surgery together in one place.

Opportunities are available at the main campus in Madera, as well as in Visalia and Modesto, offering physicians the ability to practice within one of the nation’s largest pediatric healthcare networks while helping expand access to advanced maternal and fetal care throughout Central California.

The Maternal-Fetal Center includes an experienced and collaborative team of eight maternal-fetal medicine physicians supported by advanced practice providers and nurses, and a dedicated nurse navigator who helps patients and families through every stage of care – from prenatal evaluation and diagnosis through delivery, newborn treatment and beyond. Physicians work closely with neonatologists, geneticists and genetic counselors, pediatric medical and surgical specialists, community obstetricians and regional hospitals to provide thoughtful, highly coordinated care for women with high-risk pregnancies and babies with known or suspected congenital conditions.

A Mission That Began with Five Mothers

Valley Children’s Healthcare was founded more than 70 years ago by five visionary mothers who dreamed of bringing high-quality healthcare closer to home for the children of the Central Valley.

Their vision became a dedicated children’s hospital in 1952 and has grown into a pediatric healthcare network recognized for the tenth consecutive year by U.S. News & World Report in 2025–26 as one of the nation’s Best Children’s Hospitals and honored for the sixth time in December 2025 as a Top Children’s Hospital by The Leapfrog Group for excellence in patient safety and quality.

The network includes a state-of-the-art, 358-bed, freestanding children’s hospital on a 50-acre campus overlooking the San Joaquin River and the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Partnering with Neonatal and Pediatric Specialists

Valley Children’s Hospital offers Central California’s only 88-bed Regional Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and a network that includes 28 Level II and Level III NICU beds at three partner hospitals in Fresno, Merced, and Hanford.

Maternal-fetal medicine physicians have direct access to board-certified neonatologists, pediatric surgeons, and more than 40 pediatric specialties and subspecialties. When a newborn may require intensive care, surgery, or another highly specialized intervention, the team can begin planning collaboratively before delivery.

This integrated approach allows physicians to provide continuity from prenatal diagnosis and family counseling through delivery, neonatal intervention, and long-term pediatric specialty care.

In a comparative database of NICUs nationally, Valley Children’s NICU ranks among the highest for severity of illness among babies with birthweights of 500 to 1,500 grams, yet achieves more remarkable results in terms of survival without severe complications compared with peers.

Practice Highlights:
