We are seeking a BE/BC Pediatric Surgeon to join the Division of Pediatric Surgery at Children’s Nebraska, in partnership with the University of Nebraska College of Medicine. The Division offers the full scope of pediatric surgical services, including special expertise in minimally invasive surgery, cancer surgery and neonatal surgery as well as general pediatric surgery, non-cardiac thoracic surgery, GI surgery, bariatric, oncology and endocrine surgery.
Dr. Abdalla Zarroug recently joined as the Division Chief bringing his leadership experience and vision to continue the growth and success of the pediatric surgery and fellowship program based in Omaha. Children's trio of board certified pediatric general surgeons, Abdalla Zarroug, M.D., Angela Hanna, M.D., and Patrick Thomas, M.D., have more than 50 years combined experience in pediatric general surgery.
Recognized as a 2021-22 Best Children’s Hospital by U.S. News & World Report in four pediatric specialties: Cardiology & Heart Surgery, Pediatric Pulmonology & Lung Surgery, Gastroenterology & GI Surgery, and Pediatric Urology, Children’s Nebraska is the only full-service, pediatric health care center in Nebraska, providing expertise in more than 50 pediatric specialty services to children across a five-state region and beyond. Children’s is home to Nebraska’s only Level IV regional NICU and the state’s only Level II Pediatric Trauma Center. A regional heart center, it also offers expertise in pediatric heart transplantation. Children’s is focused on extraordinary clinical care, education, basic science and translational research and advocacy and is embarking on transformational programmatic and physical growth. Unveiled in August, the new $385 million, 460,000 square foot Hubbard Center for Children addresses the increasing demand for high-quality pediatric services and brings nine floors that include an additional 100 patient beds, an expanded NICU, a dedicated Cardiac Care Unit, a new Cancer & Blood Disorders Unit, expanded surgical space, an expanded Radiology and Emergency Department, a helipad, and more.
Successful candidates will be committed to scholarly activity that advances surgical research in either a basic or clinical/translational research track. Allocation of protected research time will be based on the candidate’s research activities and record of academic accomplishment. The Child Health Research Institute was established in 2017 and aims to assist investigators with start-up funding and infrastructure for clinical, basic science or translational research. The institute specifically seeks candidates committed to developing a research program and expanding the academic portfolio of the division. Successful candidates will hold a faculty appointment at the University of Nebraska College of Medicine.
