Pediatric Search Partners has been engaged for the national search for an accomplished neonatologist and physician leader to serve as Chief of Newborn Medicine for Valley Children’s Healthcare in Madera, California.

This newly created role reflects the continued expansion of neonatal services throughout Central California and offers the opportunity to shape the next chapter of a comprehensive newborn medicine network spanning Valley Children’s Hospital and seven partner hospitals.

At the center of the network is Valley Children’s 88-bed Level IV NICU, the region’s primary referral center for critically ill and medically complex newborns. The broader network includes high-volume Level III programs and community-based Level II NICUs throughout Fresno, Clovis, Visalia, Modesto, Turlock and Hanford.

Valley Children’s is seeking a clinically accomplished neonatologist with substantial and recent experience leading a high-performing Level IV NICU and the proven ability to lead physicians, advance clinical practice and build strong teams across a complex regional network.

A Comprehensive Regional Newborn Medicine Network

Valley Children’s Hospital — Madera

The 88-bed Level IV NICU provides the region’s most advanced neonatal care, with an average daily census of approximately 55. Neonatologists work alongside pediatric medical and surgical specialists to care for infants with extreme prematurity, congenital anomalies and complex conditions requiring advanced intervention.

Resources include comprehensive pediatric subspecialty care, complex neonatal surgery, congenital cardiac care and ECMO.

Community Regional Medical Center — Fresno

The Chief will also provide leadership for the 84-bed Level III NICU at Community Regional Medical Center, with an average daily census of approximately 60. One of California’s largest birthing centers, Community Regional is also one of only four facilities in the state to receive Advanced Certification in Perinatal Care from The Joint Commission.

Seven Regional Partner Hospitals

Beyond the main campus, Valley Children’s neonatologists provide care across seven partner hospitals, creating a diverse regional network of Level II and III programs:

• Clovis Community Medical Center — Clovis
• Kaweah Health Medical Center — Visalia
• Doctors Medical Center — Modesto
• Emanuel Medical Center — Turlock
• Adventist Health — Hanford

These programs range from high-volume Level III NICUs with average daily census approaching 60 to smaller community-based Level II programs, requiring a leader capable of advancing quality, physician engagement and clinical integration across distinctly different practice environments.

The Chief of Newborn Medicine will remain closely connected to the clinical mission of the Level IV NICU while providing strategic and physician leadership across an eight-hospital regional newborn medicine network.

Valley Children’s is seeking a respected physician leader who can earn the confidence of physicians, influence change in clinical practice and create greater alignment across programs that vary significantly in size, acuity and practice environment.

Key priorities include:

• Advancing clinical quality, safety and outcomes across the network
• Leading physicians through change and continuous improvement
• Recruiting, mentoring and developing neonatologists and future physician leaders
• Building highly collaborative physician, APP, nursing and clinical teams
• Strengthening clinical integration and relationships across all eight hospitals
• Creating greater consistency while respecting the needs of individual regional programs

This is a distinctive opportunity to combine Level IV clinical leadership with regionalization, quality improvement, physician development and multi-hospital collaboration within one of the nation’s largest pediatric healthcare networks.
