Description

Pediatric Search Partners is honored to partner with Ochsner Children’s Hospital—ranked the #1 children’s hospital in Louisiana by U.S. News & World Report—to identify an accomplished and visionary Section Head of Pediatric Surgery. This is an exceptional opportunity to lead, grow, and shape a program within a comprehensive and rapidly growing children’s hospital in the Gulf South.

Ochsner Children’s is preparing for an exciting future, with a new, separate children’s hospital under construction on the Ochsner main campus, expected to open in 2027. This dedicated facility will further elevate the delivery of pediatric care in the region.

The Opportunity: Lead, Build, Inspire

The incoming Section Head will lead an established team of three pediatric surgeons, with the full support of a rapidly expanding tertiary/quaternary Pediatrics Program and Children’s Hospital. The ideal candidate will be collaborative and forward-thinking, with experience mentoring faculty, fostering the recruitment and development of pediatric surgical faculty, and partnering with clinicians and organization leaders to ensure excellent outcomes and continuous growth and improvement.

This leadership role offers the chance to make a meaningful and lasting impact—not only on surgical care, but on future generations of pediatric surgeons and the children they serve.

Clinical & Academic Environment

The surgical team provides care for patients in an expanding:

  • 54-bed Level IV NICU
  • 14-bed PICU
  • 12-bed CV-ICU
  • 44-bed pediatric acute unit
  • Dedicated pediatric emergency room
  • Pediatric/neonatal in-house transport teams covering the region

Faculty are actively engaged in education, training residents in both the Ochsner Surgery and Pediatrics Residency program, as well as medical students from the University of Queensland. A newly established College of Medicine in partnership with Xavier University of Louisiana will further strengthen opportunities within Ochsner Children's Hospital.
