About Valley Children’s Healthcare
Valley Children’s Healthcare was founded more than 70 years ago by five visionary mothers who dreamed of providing high-quality healthcare for the Valley’s children close to home. Their vision became a dedicated children’s hospital in 1952 and today, Valley Children’s is proud to have grown to become one of the largest pediatric healthcare networks in the nation.
With a vast 12-county, 45,000 square-mile service area, Valley Children’s provides Central California’s only high-quality, comprehensive care to more than 1.3 million children, from before birth to age 21, through more than 740 physicians and 4,000 dedicated staff members. Its guiding mission remains caring for all children regardless of their ability to pay while continuously improving the health and well-being of children and families throughout the region.
Valley Children’s Hospital, the heart of the network, is a picturesque 358-bed freestanding children’s hospital situated on a 50-acre campus on the bluffs of the San Joaquin River with views of the majestic Sierra Nevada Mountains. The network includes 28 regional NICU beds, regional specialty care centers, pediatric primary care practices and women’s health services throughout the Central Valley of California.
In addition, Valley Children’s maintains strong academic partnerships, including pediatric residency and fellowship programs in affiliation with Stanford University School of Medicine.
As a Magnet-designated facility with four consecutive designations, Valley Children’s is consistently recognized for excellence in nursing and offers physicians the resources of a large pediatric healthcare system with the warmth and personal culture of an organization dedicated exclusively to children.
For Pediatric Emergency Medicine physicians, that mission is experienced every day—caring for children and families during some of their most urgent and vulnerable moments.
