Section Head, Pediatric Nephrology

We’re seeking a Board Certified Pediatric Nephrologist to lead, develop and grow the Section of Pediatric Nephrology at Ochsner Hospital for Children in New Orleans, Louisiana. The successful candidate will be an integral part of creating a comprehensive pediatric kidney care program within Ochsner’s Health’s regional health system, the largest not-for-profit academic health system in the Gulf South.
In addition, we are seeing Board Certified and Board Eligible Pediatric Nephrologists to join the Section.
Key responsibilities of this position include:
Clinical Care
- Provide inpatient and outpatient kidney care for children with acute, chronic and end-stage renal disease.
- Partner with medical and surgical colleagues to serve children with complex conditions in multidisciplinary programs.
Program Development
- Opportunity for qualified candidates to develop a pediatric kidney transplant program to complement existing pediatric liver, heart, and bone marrow transplant programs.
Teaching and Research
- Teach medical students, residents, and allied health students.
- Clinical and translational research opportunities abound for qualified candidates.
- Academic appointment commensurate with experience.
The Department of Pediatrics and its pediatric subspecialists (collectively, Ochsner for Children™) represent over 110 physicians. The group is the region’s leading integrated provider of multispecialty care for infants, children, adolescents, and young adults. Ochsner Hospital for Children offers a full range of pediatric services including bone marrow transplantation, solid organ transplantation, and pediatric cardiovascular surgery and utilizes a 54-bed Level III-C Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a 14-bed PICU, a 35-bed pediatric unit, as well as a dedicated, full-time, region-wide in-house pediatric transport team.
