Madera, CA

Ranked as one of the nation’s Best Children’s Hospitals in six specialties, including Gastrointestinal Surgery, by U.S. News & World Report in 2022-2023, we’re seeking a Board Eligible/Board Certified Pediatric Surgeon to join the busy Pediatric Surgery team at Valley Children’s Healthcare, located in California’s golden Central Valley, an outdoor lover’s paradise. Valley Children’s is one of the nation’s largest pediatric healthcare networks, which includes an expanding free-standing children’s hospital with 358 regional beds.

Valley Children's offers an exceptional opportunity to join a team of eight pediatric surgeons who perform over 3,700 general surgeries per year covering more than 200 types of surgical procedures ranging from routine to rare and complex.  Teaching opportunities include the Stanford-affiliated pediatric resident training program as well as UCSF Fresno surgery residents and UCI surgery residents at Valley Children’s partner hospital, Kaweah Delta Medical Center in Visalia. Opportunities are available to be involved in clinical research.

Situated in the center of one of California’s most stunning geographic areas, Valley Children’s is a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center, as certified by the Central California Emergency Medical Services (CCEMS) Agency and is the only American College of Surgeons-verified pediatric trauma center in the Central California region. Critically injured children can be transported directly to Valley Children's Hospital, ensuring they receive the expert pediatric care they deserve as quickly as possible. As the only hospital in Central California that participates in the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP), Valley Children’s is advancing surgical care for all children. Sponsored by the American College of Surgeons, this important quality initiative collects and reports surgical outcomes in a national database for quality improvement. Participants can review actionable clinical surgery outcome data to improve care in pediatric surgery.

At Valley Children’s main campus, you’ll love working at this state-of-the-art facility that sits on a 50-acre campus on the idyllic bluffs of the San Joaquin River, with the Sierra Nevada Mountains in the background. Located near the center of the California, you’ll enjoy an exceptional quality of life with an unparalleled opportunity to live just an hour’s drive to the majestic Sierra Nevada Mountains and two and half to four hours to the stunning Pacific coast, the Napa and Sonoma wine regions and the San Francisco, San Jose, and Los Angeles metro areas. Lake Tahoe and San Diego are within five hours by car.

Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy living in the only city in the nation to have not just one, but three National Parks (Yosemite, King’s Canyon and Sequoia) right in your own backyard. Whether you prefer the snow, the sun or the sand, it’s all within your reach. And with so much varied geography, you’ll also find hiking and biking trails, kayaking, fishing, local wineries, farm stands and festivals, gourmet cuisine, and that’s only the tip of the iceberg. Along with the ability to have a healthy lifestyle and high quality of life, Central California’s affordability and award-winning schools make the area a perfect choice for families.
