Atrium Health Navicent seeks a Pediatric Academic Department Chair and Service Line Leader to be responsible for the strategic integration, provider and clinical program growth, fiscal health, and operational coordination of all pediatric services provided at Atrium Health Navicent.
While striving to achieve our mission to improve health, elevate hope, and advance healing for all, with a vision to be the national leader for health, learning, and community, the Pediatric Academic Department Chair and Service Line Leader will lead all aspects of the academic Department of Pediatrics. The academic department was established in 1995 to support our GME accredited categorical pediatric residency program, currently with six residents per class. Our faculty have appointments at the Mercer University School of Medicine, which also sponsors a unique Rural Scholars Program.
Atrium Health Navicent Beverly Knight Olson Children’s Hospital, serves 45,000+ patients annually from 79 Central and South Georgia counties, is the regions only dedicated pediatric hospital and one of the largest pediatric providers in the State. Our hospital includes 4 dedicated pediatric operating rooms, 22 beds dedicated to general pediatrics, a 66-bed neonatal intensive care unit, an 11-bed pediatric intensive care unit, a 10-bed pediatric intermediate care unit.
The pediatric service line consists of providers who perform advanced procedures across the system, bringing together pediatric primary care, medical subspecialties, including pediatric critical care physicians, pediatric hospitalists, and most other subspecialists. Expansion of our subspecialty faculty is ongoing and expected to be a major part of this role. This leader will advance pediatric medical and surgical care in Macon, and will drive excellence in education, research, patient care, and advocacy. The leader champions evidence-based medical practice ensuring high quality, efficient care delivery, leveraging emerging trends in pediatric care to transform and shape the Atrium Health Navicent pediatric service line. The leader promotes excellence in clinical quality while expanding access to advanced pediatric care across the state.
This leader will be a member of the Atrium Health Children’s Service Line leadership team, which advances children’s health and healthcare across Advocate Health’s Southeast Region.
Position Accountabilities
- Provides oversight, direction, and participation in the necessary planning for the division's ongoing development to maximize the quality of patient care to all pediatric patients.
- With the CNO/COO, prepares an annual programmatic budget and is accountable for financial performance.
- Leads the development, approval, and implementation of the pediatric vision and strategic plan in support of the Mission, Vision, and Values of Atrium Health Navicent.
- Ensures the establishment of an effective pediatric delivery system in the region, capitalizing on existing relationships, and establishing additional strategic outlets for patient care delivery, as needed.
- Ensures clinical performance improvement and safety is achieved.

- Dotted line to Atrium Health President, Enterprise Children’s Service Line Leader and Academic Chair

Qualifications
- D. degree by graduating from an allopathic medical school accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) or received a D.O. degree and graduated from an American Osteopathic Association accredited osteopathic school required.
- Board Certification by the American Board of Pediatrics in Pediatrics and/or the appropriate ABP subspecialty.
- Minimum of 10 years post- training clinical experience.
- Academic qualifications supportive of Associate Professor or Professor of Pediatrics rank in the Mercer SOM.
- Leadership experience in a Children’s Hospital or service line is desirable.
- Demonstrate ability to build clinical programs.
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Committed to teaching the next generation of pediatricians.
