We are seeking Pediatric Cardiac Intensivists who are board certified/board eligible in pediatric critical care and pediatric cardiology to join the growing team at The CHOC Padrinos Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit at CHOC Children’s Hospital in scenic Orange County, California. Responsibilities include providing quality care to pediatric cardiac critical care patients from birth to young adulthood. Call is shared with rotating night and weekend call. Opportunities in research, advocacy, palliative care, quality improvement, informatics, fellowship education and administrative duties are available and encouraged. CHOC is a primary teaching location for the University of California, Irvine. The successful candidate will be eligible for a California medical license.
CHOC’s Heart Institute includes a 12-bed CVICU staffed with pediatric cardiac intensivists as well as dedicated cardiac nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists and critical care registered nurses. All CVICU rooms are outfitted with leading-edge technology including near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) monitoring, continuous venous oximetry, EEG monitoring, in-unit CT scanning and X-ray, and rapid-assessment bedside ultrasound. In addition, CHOC is the only institution in Orange County to offer ECMO. The unit also includes two fully equipped rooms that transform into operating suites and two negative air flow rooms with double door entry to prevent the spread of possible contagious infections if required.
