We’re seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Pediatric Biochemical Genetics Physician to join the vibrant, growing Metabolic team at CHOC Children’s Specialists in scenic Orange County, California. You’ll join a team consisting of three board-certified MDs, two pediatric NPs, three dieticians, two genetic counselors, case managers, a social worker, and additional support staff who provide metabolic care in a nationally-renowned biochemical genetics program. This collegial team offers a supportive environment and an exceptional opportunity for professional growth. The position offers a strong clinical practice with teaching opportunities and clinical research, if desired but not required.
Responsibilities include caring for patients with suspected/proven metabolic diseases (inpatients, outpatients and enzyme infusions), participating in the confirmatory testing process of newborns referred by the State NBS program, and teaching of students, pediatric residents and genetics or metabolic fellows. In addition to general metabolic clinics, CHOC Children’s Specialists offers specialty clinics focusing on patients with lysosomal storage, neurometabolic, glycogen storage disorders and phenylketonuria to provide multidisciplinary care and coordination for patients.
CHOC Children’s Specialists is a highly sought-after center for national/international multicenter industry-sponsored clinical trials. There are opportunities for translational research in mitochondrial and lysosomal diseases. An onsite metabolic laboratory, one of only a few such laboratories in the United States, provides in-house testing for a variety of metabolic tests. CHOC Children’s Specialists is home to more than 240 physicians, 50 advanced practitioners and 22 pediatric subspecialties.
