Description

We’re seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Developmental Behavioral Pediatrician to join the Luke Waites Center for Dyslexia and Learning Disorders at Scottish Rite for Children (SRC) in Dallas, Texas. Board Certified Pediatricians with similar clinical experience are also welcomed. This position is open due to retirement and creates an exceptional opportunity to join a passionate and energetic team serving children through innovative evaluation, treatment, and education. The position affords an opportunity to pursue a faculty appointment with UTSouthwestern Medical Center.

We’re looking for a developmentally-focused pediatrician who is passionate about children with learning disorders and is ready to serve children and their families in accordance with the hospital’s CARE RITE values of teamwork, servant leadership, child-focused, respectful and affirming interpersonal communication, and dedication to pursuing excellence and personal growth.

This physician will also participate in developing and delivering instruction to learners rotating from UTSouthwestern training programs including fellows in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics and residents from pediatrics, med-peds, and neurology. In addition, there are opportunities to participate in outreach programs to share expertise with families, educators and referring medical professionals from the community. Here you will play a major role in planning, preparation, and presentation of the annual Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics: Topics for Primary Care conference, now in its 24th year. The Center for Dyslexia is a vibrant environment that is also committed to the community through development of effective interventions for students with dyslexia and other learning disorders and an educator training program that transforms teachers into dyslexia therapists. All the activities of the Center are accomplished in a scholarly fashion that includes a clinical research program.

About Dallas

The fourth-largest metropolitan area in the country, Dallas is also the most populous metro area in both Texas and the Southern United States. As a modern metropolis and the commercial and cultural hub of north Texas, Dallas is celebrated for its diversity and recently ranked ninth overall in WalletHub’s 2023’s Most Diverse Cities in America.

Dallas is also a cosmopolitan city known for shopping and dining choices (including plenty of that famous Texas barbecue), as well as a plethora of cultural activities, including opera, ballet and symphony concerts—not to mention its popular major league teams, including the Cowboys, Mavericks and Stars. There is plenty for families to do in Dallas, with the Perot Museum of Nature and Science and its towering dinosaur artifacts, the famous Dallas Zoo where you can feed giraffes, and the breathtaking natural displays at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens.

Dallas also offers more than 40 colleges and universities within the metro area, and three local high schools were not only listed as some of the best in the state but also the country by U.S. News & World Report. With two major airports, more domestic nonstop flights that any other U.S. city, and a cost of living just 4% above the national average, including the perk of paying no state income tax, this dynamic and innovative city offers an abundance of reasons to make it your next home!
