Description

Imagine living in a location where the outdoors beckons all year long – where you can spend your off-hours hiking in one of the three U.S. National Parks right in your backyard and all of California’s splendor is within easy reach. Do you have family and friends in Los Angeles? You can hop in the car and be there within two hours. Central California, one of the state’s best-kept secrets, offers a high-quality of life, affordable housing, excellent schools and an exceptional children’s healthcare system with outstanding professional opportunities.

Valley Children’s Healthcare is growing and expanding to serve the needs of families in the heart of California. We’re seeking a Board Eligible/Board Certified Pediatrician who enjoys Urgent Care medicine to join Valley Children’s team in Bakersfield, located less than two hours from both the main children’s hospital campus and from the Los Angeles metro area.

Pedi Center offers local family’s access to quality, affordable healthcare without the long wait and stress associated with a typical emergency room environment. The practice has a 25-year history in Kern County, offers onsite digital X-ray and rapid lab testing, and treats a variety of illnesses and injuries seven days a week and after hours.

Providing a full spectrum of pediatric services inside and outside its main campus in Madera County, Valley Children’s Healthcare incorporates a freestanding children’s hospital with 358 regional beds, along with a medical foundation and network of physicians, clinics and satellite facilities around the region. Those facilities include the Neonatal Intensive Care Units the network owns and operates in Fresno, Hanford and Merced, and its outpatient physician offices in Modesto, Merced and Bakersfield.
Valley Children’s Pediatric Residency Program, Affiliated with Stanford University School of Medicine, and fellowship programs provide first-class training for the next generation of pediatricians and pediatric subspecialists.

Here you will enjoy residing very near the geographic center of the state, within one to three hours of the stunning Pacific coast, the majestic Sierra Nevada Mountains and Los Angeles. Bakersfield enjoys a healthy local economy, vibrant job market and a tight-knit, family-oriented atmosphere. It’s also a surprisingly affordable area of California, with a cost of living significantly lower than that of the nearby environs of Los Angeles.

California’s Central Valley is home to a rich agricultural industry. Its fertile fields produce a wealth of incredible produce and the region maintains a strong commitment to locally sourced foods. With a population of more than 1 million, you’ll also enjoy a great variety of big-city amenities here: excellent restaurants; theater, music and arts; nightlife; professional sports and more.

Outdoor enthusiasts will love life here! Within Bakersfield proper are hundreds of miles of bike lanes and paths, and almost 60 parks. Additionally, three U.S. National Parks are within two to three hours’ drive: Yosemite, Kings Canyon and Sequoia, providing awe-inspiring natural beauty and near-limitless options for recreation. Hiking, fishing and skiing are among your after-hours and weekend options.
